Maths Week is the perfect opportunity to make maths a little more hands-on, practical and fun.

Here are five simple classroom activities that are easy to set up and can be adapted for different primary class levels.

Use ABC Essentials Linking Cubes to create colour or number patterns. Pupils can continue a sequence, create their own or challenge a partner to work out the rule. Shop Linking Cubes

2. Set Up a Mini Shop

Create a classroom shop using play money and everyday items. Give pupils a budget and let them practise adding totals, working out change and deciding what they can afford.

3. Beat the Clock

Use pupil clocks to practise telling the time. Call out different times, ask pupils to show 15 or 30 minutes later, or match analogue and digital times. Shop Pupil Clocks & Time Resources

4. Try a Tangram Challenge

Challenge pupils to create animals, objects or pictures using ABC Essentials Tangrams. It’s a simple way to explore shape, space and problem-solving. Shop ABC Essentials Maths Resources
